Silver Award Application

Congratulations, your journey to becoming all-round sustainability champions is coming along and you're ready to apply for your next award!

Your school has put in the hard work and you're well advanced on your school journey to environmental sustainability. What follows is a checklist to make sure you have met all the criteria to take home your silver award. We're going to ask you to expand on some detail, you can keep this brief and dot points are fine. Remember to demonstrate your progression from your last award application. Don't forget to include supporting documentation so we can witness the path you have travelled so far.

First up a bit of admin. Eco-Schools Australia will only approve awards to schools who are up-to-date with their annual registration fee and their annual survey. Make sure your school has met these criteria before you start – not sure? We can find out for you, simply email eco-schools@kab.org.au to ask the question.

Eco-Committee

We have an Eco-Committee made up of students of different ages, teachers or other staff members (garden coordinator, etc.) and parent(s) that meets at least once a term

We keep minutes of all meetings and try to keep the rest of the school updated on what we are doing

Students share responsibility with adults for running the committee, e.g. chairing, voting, taking minutes (At teachers' discretion, based on age and strengths of students)

Environmental Review & Baseline Survey

The Eco-Committee has completed an Environmental Review of the school against all Eco-Schools themes

An Environmental Review has not been submitted in the past 12 months. Please ensure you complete and submit an Environmental Review. Once it is submitted, this checkbox will be automatically ticked.

Results of the review have been recorded and discussed by the Eco-Committee to generate project ideas

Action Plan

The Eco-Committee has completed an Action Plan of the school against all Eco-Schools themes

The action plan includes SMART targets (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-framed) and details time frames, targets and who is responsible for action

Monitoring & Evaluation

The Eco-Committee collects evidence of completed Eco-School activities and projects in a portfolio or scrapbook that demonstrates achievements against at least 2 Eco-Schools themes

The Eco-Action Team identifies and monitors progress towards achieving the actions stated in the Eco-Action Plan

The Eco-Committee has evaluated the impacts of Eco-Schools initiatives by reflecting on information (e.g. waste/electricity audits) they have collected?
