Litter Less Campaign

Mini Litter Less Campaign International Competition

10 days - 7 Actions

From the 18th to the 28th of October

The mini Litter Less Campaign International Competition (#litterlesscampaign) is a 10-day campaign in which students complete seven actions that promote sustainable behaviour change related to litter and waste.

The actions are easy to fulfil, short adaptable to any context (e.g. as a lesson in school or activity in a youth group meeting).

We recommend completing one action per day, however, teachers and youth guides can adapt the number of actions completed per day to the context they work in.

The full list of actions and accompanying Help Notes can be found below:

Participate in the mini Litter Less Campaign international competition

The most challenging action is the ’Zero-waste Day’ (Action 5), where students try to live a whole day without producing waste at all, i.e. they can separate their waste but not produce new waste that goes to incineration or landfill.

Students have the opportunity to submit their ’Zero-waste’ 1-minute videos as entries to a Litter Less Mini competition even if they are not participating in YRE or Eco-Schools.

We will submit the best 3 entries to FEE International between 29 Oct -12 Nov.

- Criteria for acceptance -

  1. The entry must be an example of a ’Zero-waste’ action.
  2. Videos must be no longer than 1 minute
  3. The entry has to be posted on at least one social media platform with the hashtag #litterlesscampaign

- Timeline -

- Submissions deadline is 11th of November
- Results at the beginning of December

Impact Measurement and GDPR information

  • Impact measurement

We are required to document the impact of the campaign on participants. Therefore, the Mini litter-less campaign includes pre-and-post surveys to measure the impact of the campaign on students’ knowledge and attitudes related to the litter and waste issue. The two surveys are nearly identical, comprise of 8 questions and should be taken only by students at the start of the campaign and as part of Action 6. Please collect as many responses as possible.
