Grants

From time-to-time Eco-Schools Australia is able to offer small grants to assist schools in achieving their action plan goals.

Grants are only available to schools that are registered financial  members of  Eco-Schools Australia and agree to deliver their funded project within the Eco-Schools 7-step framework.

2017 Litter Legends Grants

Participate in the 2017 Eco-Schools Australia Wrigley’s Litter Legends Campaign, and receive $500 in seed grant funding to jumpstart a litter reduction and recycling campaign at your school.

In 2017, Eco-Schools Australia, operated by Keep Australia Beautiful, is running the Litter Legends Campaign (known internationally as Litter Less Campaign) for the second year. This year 20 Aussie Eco-Schools will receive seed grants of $500 to implement a project to reduce litter and improve recycling in their school and community.

Operating in 21 countries worldwide, the Litter Legends Campaign (LLC) aims to engage and educate children and young people on the issue of litter, and encourage them to make positive choices. LLC is supported in Australia by The Wrigley Company Foundation and the Foundation of Environmental Education.

WHAT COUNTRIES ARE INVOLVED?

Australia, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Croatia, India, Kenya, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russian Federation, Uganda, United States of America, South Africa, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Litter Legends Campaign helps your school to reduce litter and improve recycling efforts in your school and community by tackling Eco-Schools Australia’s ‘Litter and Waste’ theme and the proven Eco-Schools Seven Step methodology.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

-Reduce waste at your school while encouraging recycling/composting

-Save money by reducing waste going to landfill and associated collection costs

-Connect with schools all over the world, and learn from their achievements

-You will be eligible to apply for an Eco-Schools Australia Bronze Award at the end of your Campaign.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO?

If your school is selected to participate you agree to:

-Learn about Eco-Schools and LLC through a short online education program (format to be confirmed)

-Monitor the impact you have on litter or waste in school throughout the campaign (see monitoring impact below)

-Organise a community event promoting your LLC project

-Submit reports and results on time (see timeframe)

-Submit 3 pictures and a short summary of your campaign

-Be willing to participate in a student survey on litter

-Apply for your Eco-Schools Australia Bronze Award! (Optional)

HOW DO WE MONITOR IMPACT?

You will be asked to report on one of the following during your campaign:

(Chose one)

-Number of pieces of litter found in the school yard at the beginning of the campaign and at the end of the campaign

-Number and weight (kg) of full bags of litter at the beginning of the campaign and at the end of the campaign

-Weight (kg) of paper recycled at the beginning of the campaign and at the end of the campaign

-Weight (kg) of total waste recycled at the beginning of the campaign and at the end of the campaign

WHAT SORT OF CAMPAIGN CAN WE RUN?

Great question! As long as your project is targeted at reducing litter in your school or local community you are only limited by the imagination of your Eco-Committee!!
